Many women and young girls have their ears pierced. Today, even some men and young boys have their ears pierced. But usually men and boys who have their ears pierced only have one ear pierced. I think that men and boys that have their ears pierced look like pirates but it is also a matter of taste. However, I feel that baby ear piercing is unnecessary. Baby ear piercing is unnecessary because babies don’t need to have their ears pierced. This is because babies are too young to express their personality and creativity. It is the parent’s personality that is being expressed when they have their baby’s ears pierced.

Any type of jewelry is worn to express someone’s personality and creativity. Earrings are a favorite type of jewelry of women and men. Although it was just recently that men have pierced their ears. However, unlike women who get both of their ears pierced, most men who get their ears pierced only pierce one ear. I think that men and young boys that get their ears pierced look like pirates. No man or boy should look like a pirate in everyday life; I don’t care how great Johnny Depp looked in Pirates of the Caribbean. However, getting your ears pierced is a personal choice. However, I think that baby ear piercing is unnecessary because babies don’t have a choice whether to get their ears pierced at such a young age. Wearing any kind of jewelry expresses the wearer’s personality and creativity. Therefore, it is the parent’s personality and creativity that is being expressed with baby ear piercing not the baby’s. The decision to get ear piercing should be the person who get their ears pierced not their parents decision. I didn’t get my ears pierced when I was a baby; I got my ears pierced for the first time when I was eight years old and I got my ears double pierced when I was twelve years old.

Baby ear piercing is unnecessary because babies are too young to know what is going on. They don’t know what is involved when getting your ears pierced. Whoever said that beauty involves a bit of pain was right especially when it involves getting your ears pierced. When you get your ears pierced you need to be aware that there is a gun involved. The gun is properly called an earring gun. The earring gun is placed on your ear lobe by someone who hopefully knows what they are doing and the earrings are shot into both ears. Don’t worry each ear is done separately. There is a bit of pain and there may be a bit of blood but the ear piercing process goes quickly so the pain so neither the pain nor the bit of blood last long. Baby ear piercing is also unnecessary because babies have no reason to get their ears pierced and they are not aware of the proper ear care that has to go along with getting your ears pierced.

When you get your ears pierced you have to wear ‘starter ears’ that are either sterling sliver or 14 karat gold for six week straight without removing the earring from your ears so that your ears can heal properly from the ear piercing procedure. Babies will not understand this so they might cry, fuss, and try to remove the earring and hurt their ears. Therefore, baby ear piercing is unnecessary. I got my ears pierced when I was eight years old because I was tired of people thinking that I was a boy. However, babies have no logical reason for getting their ears pieced; so parents please don’t get involved in baby ear piercing.
